Obsoalim

The Obsoalim 34 project aims to assess food insecurity at a local level. It was led by the Chair, CIRAD, INRAE (UMR Innovation) and Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, in collaboration with the consultancy firm Le Basic and the Fédération des acteurs de la solidarité Occitanie, to create a digital platform.

This platform enables the characterisation of risks of food insecurity in municipalities and neighbourhoods within large municipalities (IRIS) across French departments.

It offers three functionalities:

• producing maps of food insecurity risks;
• explain key indicators of the risk of food insecurity;
• provide information on the multifactorial nature of food insecurity. In 2025, the platform was updated to take into account the latest publicly available data, and a regional assessment based on survey work was carried out in the municipalities of Grand Pic Saint-Loup Gangeois, with the support of the Hérault Department.
